Merlin integration module

Merlin TX is the hand controller for direct flight, tasking and autonomy handoff on compatible Tairos airframes. It combines the Tairos radio link, physical flight controls, mission context and a deliberate ARM-ENABLE interface in one operator device.
Beyond a hobby-radio workflow
A conventional FPV controller binds an operator to one airframe and leaves mission context on another screen. Merlin TX is built around Sentinel Command:
- compatible airframes are managed through a fleet-aware session defined for the delivered platform configuration;
- the operator can hand control between direct flight and an authorized autonomous mission mode;
- control can be transferred between pilots without rebuilding the mission state;
- a Panorama view gives the pilot selected formation and threat context; and
- encrypted binding ties the controller to the authorized fleet configuration.
Controls that match the responsibility
Critical actions remain on physical controls that can be operated deliberately under stress and with gloves. An engagement requires positive action through a separated, two-hand ARM-ENABLE control. Arming is a hardware-gated command, not a passive software default.
The controller also displays the current control owner and handoff state. An autonomy change is visible to the operator rather than occurring silently.
Controller forms
Merlin integration module
Places the Tairos link and firmware into a compatible host-controller ecosystem for users who already operate established FPV control hardware.
Integrated Tairos controller
Combines the Merlin radio, screen, physical safety controls, fleet session and Sentinel interface in a soldier-oriented enclosure.
Both forms serve the same command and identity model. The integrated controller adds the complete Tairos operator surface.
System relationship
- Ground segment: supplies the mission-command and wider formation view.
- Panorama: provides the filtered common picture shown on the controller.
- FPV goggles: provide the perception surface; Merlin TX remains the action and authorization surface.
- Sentinel: manages mission state, autonomy handoff and control authority.
Compatible use contexts
Merlin TX supports direct-control and pilot-supervision roles across the Dart, Strix, Apex and Nova-S lines. The exact control set is configured around the platform and mission.
Responsible control
Merlin TX carries authorization only within the operator’s assigned scope. Mission-level rules, abort behavior and command permissions remain enforced by Sentinel and the platform hardware gate.
